ABOUT ME

I have many diverse interests with an adoration of multiculturalism. I love dancing from Bollywood to Breakdance, oh and Bellydance.

I love finding new places. I have a good job at the uni that I (mostly) enjoy and I've my own house residing in a calm corner of Durham City.

PHILOSOPHY

I realised recently that personal development / growth is as much about un-learning things, as it is about learning things.

Good experiences are worth more to me than possessions. If I want to experience something that's 3D and interactive, I open my front door and go out the house.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Occasional attendance at social events. I organised my first intercultural event recently which people largely enjoyed. I also know a heck of a lot about the area and a lot of good events that are taking place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have enjoyed several social events in Newcastle. Have also very much enjoyed showing a CS visitor around my university.

Interests

Languages: everything from Azeri to Zulu. I love educating myself and learning about the world; in our own way we are all anthropologists.

Other likes: boxing, Parkour, Radio 4, landscapes, cityscapes, museums, science documentaries, bridges, brutalism, real ale pubs, Victoriana, classical music, neoclassicism, railways, Islay & Speyside whisky.

I enjoy psychology / self-help / self-improvement books to help see myself in context.

I am addicted to the YouTube videos of Noam Chomsky. The charisma of this man, his encyclopaedic knowledge, his erudition and elegance under fire are to be admired: an absolute personal hero of mine.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Did a solo Bhangra performance on-stage in front of around 1000, mostly Indian, people. As I mounted the stage from the rear, the crowds of people spread out in front of me as far as I could see: absolutely amazing and totally terrifying.
