I am a computer science researcher from Sydney. I sometimes travel for work, and I often travel to volunteer at craft beer festivals. I love tasting exotic drinks, but my aim is almost never to get drunk, just to taste and enjoy. I have done lots of backpacking around the world, and I prefer to sleep somewhere simple with somebody I can chat to and ask about the city I'm in.

Before I get to a city I always have an idea which breweries and specialty bars I want to visit, and sometimes I end up taking new friends on a craft beer tour of their own city. There is a rich world of beer nerds almost everywhere in the world, and I usually meet many people with mutual friends in the beer or brewing world.

If I am exhausted I will snore quite loudly, so I don't offer to share rooms with people unless they also snore. My girlfriend says I don't snore often, but my travel companions say I do, so I guess I'm always tired at the end of a day of traveling! I always travel with earplugs.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet people, and don't like the cold impersonality of a hotel room. I think I am a cheerful friendly person, and I think I have fun stories to share. I don't expect anybody to give me a free couch or bed, but I like helping others out sometimes, and I assume there are other people like me out there :)

Interests

I am interested in 3D printing and 3D design, woodworking, simple electronic design, videogames, film, and food. I am happy sitting and chatting about just about anything.

I slept outside next to an adult cheetah while volunteering at a wildlife conservatory in Namibia :)
