About Me

I mumble. All of the time. People constantly have to ask me to repeat what I said. But after a few exchanges of conversation I warm up very quickly.

I tend to romanticize everything. (buildings, nature, oh and water, I love any body of water)

I am goofy, and enjoy taking myself about as seriously as you would a puppy. I love being spontaneous. Sometimes that might involve breaking the rules. I really enjoy making a fool of myself for the sake of a smile.

I go with the flow, have no expectations, and just want to make some killer memories and have fun.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My ideal form of travel has dramatically changed in the past year.

I am a bit introverted, this led me to live inside of my comfort zone, comfortably.

Due to the inspiration of a fellow couchsurfer, I have really become passionate about meeting new people and sharing in new experiences. I now believe that travel is less about the destination, and more about who you share those moments with.

Couchsurfing, for me, is a personal choice to give into my desire for adventure.

With that being said, I feel getting to know your host is very important, whether it is hanging out all night talking, or just sharing some stories over a beer or wine. Also it is important to have the independence to go out on your own.

Interests

Being with people who allow themselves to get lost in the moment. Whether it is with conversation, spontaneously sleeping on a beach, or random photo shoots, I want to be there.

Although if you play an instrument, it wouldn't hurt to have a little jam session.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Upon arriving to Edinburgh on my solo tour of the UK, I stepped off the train without the slightest idea where my hostel was, or what I was supposed to do without having an itinerary.

Panic set it.

But as I began putting one foot in front of the other, that panic that would have paralyzed me in the past, turned into excitement. I eventually found my hostel with the help of one of the nicest gothic punk rocker's I have ever met. I set down my bag and collapsed onto the bed. I felt exhausted, but that excitement wouldn't let me stay still for long. It was freezing outside, but the sun had broken its way through the gray clouds and that was all the motivation I needed to get out and explore.

I walked through the old town, passing the adorable alleyways and found myself at the base of a mountain. I later learned that this mountain is where many tourists hike to reach Arthur's Seat, a vista with a most excellent view of the medieval city and it's neighboring landscape.

I had no idea what it was.
All I had was my boots, a light pullover, and my camera.

Other people were walking casually up the trail, but that wasn't going to work for me.

I was restless.

With the sheer joy of exploring, being in nature, and soaking in all the beauty of the Scottish landscape, I began running.

With a smile on my face.

Cigarette in my hand.

My lungs burned but nothing was going to stop me. When I made it to the top of this mountain, I felt at peace. I didn't feel tired. The cheesy metaphor of finally reaching a destination didn't taint the experience. Something was different, foreign, and yet felt like home.

That moment changed me, I haven't been the same since then.

Teach, Learn, Share
