About Me

I'm a friendly and easygoing guy who loves travelling to see old friends and make new ones!

I'm fit and active so love trying new things like rafting, rock climbing, green tea ceremony, snowboarding etc

I taught English in Japan for a few years and loved the culture and can't wait to experience other cultures around the world (especially their foods!)

I'm an open book, so if you have any questions feel free to ask them :)

My personal philosophies:

Treat others as you would have them treat you!
Trust is not given, it is earned... as is friendship :P
When in doubt, do what feels right in your heart.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've stayed with a few cool couchsurfing hosts several years ago in California (seems they're no longer on here?) and had a whale of a time! Meeting locals and getting to see their hometown and local culture through their eyes always provides something different to what you'll get if you "go it alone"

I'm looking forward to hosting some people next year when I move into a bigger place.

Music, Movies, and Books

Love pretty much any movie... though not really a fan of horror. Okuribito made me cry....

Love rnb music and a mix of everything else. (Snow Patrol, Eskimo Joe, The Fray, All American Rejects, Bic Runga, GOTYE etc etc)

Tend to read mostly Men's Health, New Scientist, Popular Mechanics, Readers Digest, TIME etc. Sometimes read some Michael Crichton, Jessica Adams etc...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Trudged for 45 mins through heavy snow to deliver a 1hr English class to a group of 5 freezing 4 year old Japanese kids - and they loved every moment of it!

Stood on Zushi beach surrounded by hundreds of other people all dancing and drinking as the afternoon sun sank into the ocean = bliss!

Rode an elephant through the jungle, through rivers, steams etc in Thailand = amazing!

Teach, Learn, Share

For guys (or girls if you're comfortable) - never turn down a drink from a Japanese Salaryman if you're in a bar alone in Japan. Many of these guys are fascinating and interesting people who are away from their families and friends due to long work hours and love nothing more than chatting to someone, and the drinks help their courage in communicating with you in a mix of Japanese and English.

Humor them, it'll be fun for both of you and you can feel good that you've provided some (sometimes MUCH) needed company for these hardworking guys!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Aussie accent lessons / english lessons, technical assistance (I'm a bit of a nerd), entertainment and a willingness to go along on any adventure you deem worthwhile :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
