ABOUT ME

I'd like to think I'm pretty easy going. I'll talk to anyone, but I have a tendency to talk too much sometimes, so feel free to tell me to shut up. Enjoy meeting new people generally.

My PhD consumes my life at the moment. Other than that, I'm into music (rock, post-rock, etc) and I study karate, although haven't trained in a few months.

PHILOSOPHY

For having studied philosophy extensively, I don't really have one. It'd probably be "be excellent to each other", but that's only because I stole it from Bill and Ted. Seems like a reasonable approach, though.

It'd probably be easier to list films I don't like. I'm into action films, martial arts films, that kind of stuff. Will watch anything though, although I'm a bit of a feartie when it comes to horror.

Books: read everything by Douglas Coupland. Since doing my Masters, I've not had much time for fiction, sadly.

Represented Scotland at the world level for karate once, that was cool. Got put out in the first round, but that was to be expected.

I can cook a few dishes, and wouldn't mind cooking for people I'm staying with.

I can teach some self-defence stuff, ha! I'm not a violent person, but I think my skills are useful and gives me confidence I probably wouldn't otherwise have.

I enjoy discussing politics until the cows come home.
