Hi everyone, I'm a financial journalist who has lived for three years in London. I recently left my job at a financial publication here, and am soon returning to the US (my home) to begin a new job writing about finance.

Before I leave Europe, however, I am taking a break of several months to travel and write about European culture and politics (and perhaps, if I can't help myself, a little about business, too). I am particularly interested in learning about Slovakia's political culture, especially about Slovakia has broadly resisted many of the populist forces that have swept up other countries in the region (and in the UK and US).

In my free time I enjoy hanging out with friends at cafes, travelling in or outside London, and reading.

I believe that it's important to encourage people to explore different cultures, get to know people from different backgrounds, and have meaningful conversations with people they haven't necessarily known for very long or are perhaps meeting for the first time. A world without that constant engagement with strangers (in a safe and respectful environment) is one that would have lost its curiosity and begun to turn in on itself.

I love reading, writing, classical music, classic rock, jazz, playing alto saxophone, and reciting lines from Hamlet while pretending no one is noticing.
