About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Working, planning the next adventure.

ABOUT ME

I grew up on a 400-acre farm in the Willamette Valley. Studied journalism in Eugene. Portlanded in 2006. I'm a frontend web developer at an ad agency in downtown.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't be sorry, be awesome

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to live in a big house with some friends, and we let quite a few couch surfers stay in our extra bedroom. Moved into a 1-bedroom apartment recently. It's rad, but smaller. I'm still figuring out how well it works for couchsurfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My old roommates and I have hosted couch surfers from all over, including Australia, Germany, Netherlands, Israel, Washington DC, New York, Chicago, San Francisco... I've only couchsurfed one time so far in Konstanz Germany.

Interests

Photography, filmmaking, picnicking, swimming, live music, magazines, newspapers, art, history, architecture, food, beer, wine.

Music, Movies, and Books

I mostly read nonfiction, and if possible from the local library. When I'm traveling or on vacation though I'm the exact opposite. Novels only.

I listen to a lot of Portland music: Typhoon, Starfucker, YACHT, Portugal the Man, Wild Ones, Fanno Creek. A couple years back my oldroommate/goodbuddy Sean and I made this music video series http://thepennyjam.com which chronicles Portland bands playing in unusual places. We haven't made new episodes in awhile but it's a great intro to some local bands!

But also I listen to a variety of Rap/Hip-Hop, Indie-Rock, Old Country, R&B, Rock n Roll, Jazz and so on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Houseboating on Lake Shasta, driving across Costa Rica, Halloween in New Orleans, swimming in upstate New York, epic road trip from Portland to Indianapolis, hiking Glacier National Park, swimming the Calanques near Marseille, hiking the vineyards of the Cinque Terre.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm happy to give you some web design/development advice. I'm super knowledgeable about Portland food/bar/music/travel recommendations.
