Overview
About Me
I have no American relatives, I was born in Scotland, and yet I spent most of my life deep in the Southern United States, in Mississippi, Georgia, and Arkansas. After studying at Mississippi State and working for a small architecture firm in Fayetteville (AR), my wife and I moved up north. These days you'll find us in Boston/Cambridge, as I'm currently at MIT getting grad school'd up.
I like to study, I like to play, and I really like to hang out with cool people. So if you like architecture, or technology, or neuroscience, or craft beer, or good food, or cats, or traveling, or space, or pretty much anything else, we'll probably get along.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've done a bit of traveling myself, both with CS and not. Essentially, my family is split between Scotland and Australia, and I occasionally am lucky enough to visit. I started surfing in Paris on a solo trip, and I don't know if it was that or maybe just the city itself, but it was probably the most enjoyable week of my life. Falling asleep with a view of the Eiffel Tower? Eating incognito in a little-known truly authentic street in the middle of the town? You can't beat that.
Since then, it has only gotten better. I've finally started hosting a bit alongside surfing, and I cannot wait to expand my CS family wherever I end up.

Music, Movies, and Books
Most music will capture my attention at some point, but my favorite band is Radiohead.
I used to be a huge bookworm, reading everything from fantasy and sci-fi to non-fiction and philosophy. Nowadays I mostly just read architecture and cognitive science books though.
Clint Mansell and Christopher Nolan top my list for movie directors.
