Overview
About Me
Hi! My name is Scottie.
I've spent a huge majority of my life traveling and sightseeing. I have only ever lived in one place for three years and that was to finish college. I love meeting new people and all are assumed rad until proven otherwise. I'm an eclectic, easygoing type. I'm usually down for anything, anytime, within reason. I'm also pretty hilarious, so that's a plus.
I have my Master's in orthotics and prosthetics and am currently working in Illinois as an orthotist. I get to help people regain mobility and quality of life and I never want to do anything else. I've found my passion and it's awesome.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to travel and I love to meet new people. I've had friends who’ve hosted couch surfers and frankly, it was the coolest experience. I've met people from all over the globe who are fascinating, enriching and have their own collections of stories to tell. Staying in a hotel/motel is easy, but you don't get to experience meeting new people and seeing a city from the perspective of a native.

Music, Movies, and Books
Local music and artists, always. I'm into any random, obscure and weird stuff, too.
My musical tastes are all over the board, but I'd say I'd probably default to indie/alt if I had to choose. New music is my drug of choice.
I watch movies, but I'm not necessarily a movie person. My favorite thing to watch is something with minimal plot, few emotions, hilarious one liners and ridiculous scenes. (See: Bob's Burgers)
I love any book that is eloquently written that paints scenes and expressions with words and leaves me with an enhanced vocabulary. But, gag me if it's romance.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In graduate school, I developed a low cost prosthetic device that is able to allow amputees to feel the pressure they are applying to objects using water and brain retraining. So, that was pretty amazing.
Also, I train rats to play basketball.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm very intrigued by learning new skills, people's perspectives and outlooks.
I have a lot of medical and orthopedic knowledge that I like to share with anyone who will listen.
If you speak German, I'd love for you to help me keep my conversational skills. I can teach you some, too!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm a wonderful story teller (I have thousands), an engaging conversationalist and a great listener.
I have a keen eye for adventure opportunities.
I'm a jack of all trades and a master of few, so I will definitely help you kick ass at trivia or fix a random thing that's not quite working well or change your car oil.
I will pet all of your animals.
