Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

To live simply, beautifully, sustainably.

ABOUT ME

I'm a traveler, an intellectual, a bluegrass fanatic, a lover of old work shirts and cast iron cookware. My favorite things to do while traveling are the same things I like to do at home: frequent small cafes and people watch. The outdoors inspire me, the indoors comfort me. I sing along with music in the car way too often--to the dismay of folks trying to reach me on the mobile.

PHILOSOPHY

Read Wendell Berry. It's all there.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed a few times over the years, and am finally aiming to get a place of my own to host folks. Barring that, I'm usually enthusiastic about wherever I'm living--so I can always show folks around/get a drink if you're new to town.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had a few wonderful experiences--in Australia, in Hawaii, in Oregon--of hosts who went out of their way to show me hospitality. It's this sort of charity to utter strangers that prevents the world from imploding.

Intereses

Hiking, farming, reading, thinking, writing, blogging, eating Mexican food, cooking Mexican food, yarning over politics, religion, and other "untouchable" subjects of our day.

Algo increíble que he hecho

I've seen my friends turn into husbands and wives, then into fathers and mothers. That's amazing.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I've learned a lot of self-sufficiency skills during my travels. I remember the guy who taught me how to wash my stainless steel camping cookware with river pebbles. That guy--he was an Israeli--also taught me how to cook on an open fire and how to make Turkish coffee with only whole beans, a mortar & pestle, and a fire. It's things like that I'd like to pass on, and things like that I'm interested in learning.
