ABOUT ME

I'm an award-winning photojournalist freashly out of college and looking to tell the stories that matter most to me. I mostly focus on documentary work and love the idea that every day in my chosen career I get to have an adventure, meet new people, hear their stories and shape new experiences for myself and those I meet.

I'm clean, non-smoker, no drugs, no pets.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Thus far I've crashed on many a couch across the country in my travels, but they've all been friends, or friends of friends. So the concept of a social network of friendly people offering up a floor to crash on is very new to me, and while I've know about it for years (I've a few friends that have used it), I've hesitated joining mostly out of fear for my safety. But this time around, I'm thinking I'll give it a shot and am looking forward to the adventure.

Interests

I'm very much into the arts, photography, film, writing. I enjoy basketball, hiking, cooking and spending time sharing stories into the wee hours of the morning.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The letters I get from the people I've taken pictures of. Sometimes it's a crying mother telling me how much it meant for her to have me in the hospital with her when her child went in for a check-up and sometimes it from the rural farmer who was touched that I took the time to sit down and really get to know him before I left. It's the people I meet and the experiences we share that makes this all worthwhile.

I can offer up my knowledge as a photojournalist. Everything from the lessons I've learned in my travels to technical know how of the craft. Also my cultural heritage and the lessons I've learned growing up as a 2nd generation Indian in America (for one, there aren't many of us who are in creative fields).
