Über mich
CURRENT MISSION
To live fully in every waking moment of the now, and to do it while spreading the natural joy it brings.
ABOUT ME
Besides the strange intimidation I feel while staring down one of these "about you" boxes, I'd like to consider myself a peaceful person. In fact, I find it hard to imagine being anything else (being anything but positive is just too much work). I've got an unquenchable yearning to see the world, mostly to reaffirm my suspicions that, despite the war and death and tragedy, us human beings aren't so wicked simply because it's not in our nature.
I tend to be a natural writer, whether it be short stories, poems, half-assed attempts at any sort of cohesive novel, or songs (although I'm generally only able to focus my energy into one of these specific genres at any given time). I'm a humanist, and despite the fact that I've only seen a fraction of this planet, I don't particularly feel you need to see any more than the world outside your window to call yourself a citizen of the earth. I'm decidedly anti-nationalistic. It gets in the way of the "citizen-of-the-earth" mantra. At the end of the day, I'd love to play music for a living. Whether it be busking in the street to pay for a meal or a bus/train to the next town, or playing weekly gigs at a local dive. Can I foresee myself doing this the rest of my life? It's difficult to say. I really can't foresee the rest of my life to begin with, so naturally I'm not that concerned.
PHILOSOPHY
Why do I live my life? As far as I'm concerned, we're all in this together, and if my life can make someone else's that much better, that's reason enough. We've been given an extraordinary ability to perceive the reality around us, to treat each other with dignity and compassion, and to thoroughly enjoy each rise and fall of the sun.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Giving up every moment to the prospect of the "global citizenry" of which we're all a part, the collective consciousness. CS is a way to bridge the gaps we've constructed between ourselves.
Interessen
Phenomenological life! Reading, Guitar, Riding my Bike to places I've never seen in my own town/other towns), concepts of social justice, a premature fascination with Zen Buddhism, writing, singing, and constant growth/evolution.

Musik, Filme und Bücher
The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Ray Lamontagne Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, etc., Blues (in general), Jazz (in general). The Dharma Bums, Big Sur, On The Road, A Farewell to Arms, Sit Down & Shut Up, Hell's Angels, Siddhartha, Catch-22, etc.
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
The chance to immerse myself in a cultural rather different than the one in which I was raised. I consider the validation of the traveling itch I've been feeling for years.
Lehren, lernen, teilen
I'd love to share, simply, my perspective (or perhaps a little bit about the guitar, as well). And as for learning? The sharing of perspectives is knowledge enough for me. Practical skills would be icing on an already delicious cake.
