About Me

CURRENT MISSION

write a book, get a scholarship for graduate school, swim in the ocean, make friends, laugh

ABOUT ME

I returned to the U.S. after studying abroad in New Zealand. I try to be a mindful creator of positive surroundings, staying close to the ocean and sharing fun times with old and new friends.

I love last-minute road trips, connecting with new people, and learning from others' experiences that inspire me to seek out new directions that I might not have otherwise considered or encountered.

PHILOSOPHY

Dream more while you are awake

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted one couchsurfer after a friend told me about couchsurfing and had such a fun experience cooking and sharing my town with a new friend.

Interests

I love nature, being outside is where I feel most comfortable, especially places near water...rivers, lakes, oceans, islands, lagoons, hot springs, even a swimming pool and a nice, cold cocktail will suit me just fine. Birds are cool. I love to snorkel and recently caught my first wave on a surfboard...addicted to it all. I do a lot of camping (although not now that I am living in Florida because it is too hot to be in a tent). I enjoy snowboarding, music concerts, sports, happy hour and local dives...and I can walk all over town forever and ever before I get tired.

I love to cook and rarely miss a sunset.

Music, Movies, and Books

I found a Jimmy Buffet book in a house I moved to, which was surprisingly great (reminded me I am an island girl at heart)...glad to be finished reading required text books from uni as I have been trying to read Cloud Atlas since May. I have no limitations on what kind of books I will pick up although it takes me forever to finish because I have a wandering mind and like moving more than sitting.

Music - everything, literally...especially original music you don't hear on the radio or new tunes that friends turn me on to.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked with political leaders, teachers, and villagers in Tanzania, Africa to implement a water project that now delivers clean drinking water to a local school and thousands of people. I also lived in a hidden treasure - a remote, quaint, family-oriented fishing village called Treasure Beach in the south coast of Jamaica where I started a high school and college internship and painted a mural (see http://www.seavibefoundation.wordpress.com or http://www.facebook.com/seavibe)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people who are scared of the water how to float :)

I have been living on my own since I was 15 years old and can share a lot about survival.

I enjoy learning about others' lives, careers, cultures...and when I meet someone adventurous, it inspires me to keep moving and try new things.
