About Me

Hiiiii! I am Seb. Most of the time, I would describe myself as a ball of energy with a particular spark for a random and mischevous, yet happy things that people come up with as a joke. Other than that, I try to find logic and order in things – logical thinking, puzzles and similar stuff is absolutely my thing. To no surprise, I am really into math, especially informatics, which sounds nerdy (spoiler: it is), but people consider me an extrovert. Another passion of mine is teaching, or working with children and teens in general. I’ve been to many math/language camps as a kid, and now I get to give back as an organizer, and I love every second of it. I grew up in math communities, and to this day, they are the safest and nicest place I know, and I want to take part in further building these communities. With that came my passion in playing guitar. So yeah, that’s me. Other things I like is hiking in mountains, long evenings with people close to me, hot cocoa, all sports except F1 and baseball and long artsy movie shots.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It started with wanting to travel Scandinavia with not nearly enough budget to stay in hotels. It ended up as being the best decision even if I had the budget. I've met so many cool people through this community, and it really amazes me just how colorful and varied and cool the members of this community are. And now that I've successfully relished the generosity of the community by surfing, I'm looking forward to repaying the debt by doing some hosting on my own!

Please read my profile (as well as the "My Home" tab, if you want to get hosted).

Music, Movies, and Books

My music taste could be described as a total mess – I listen to basically everything except rap (though I mostly don’t mind it), and I have different genres for different situations. Enjoying the situation I’m in and enhancing my experience with music is what I like to do – however, please leave your Drake/Lil Uzi on the headphones. And for my favorite artists, I love AJR and Coldplay, as well as a varying obsession with Shanties :D. Currently, I'm in my Rock and Roll phase.

As you might’ve guessed from about me, I really enjoy artsy movies, paying full attention to what I’m watching is really important to me. If a movie’s good, I’ll have a great time with it. Some of my favorite pieces of all time are Hundreds of Beavers, Taste of Cherry and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, as well as Spirited Away.

And for books, I don’t really read much of what you would call classic books anymore, but I used to be really into adventure fantasy books. This came back around, and these days, I'm just unhealthily hooked on One Piece manga, and I'd honestly say it's the best fantasy story I've ever read. And although I don't read so much non-fiction, there is an exception – the book Surrounded by Idiots is something I refer to every day and I love it to bits. Big recommendation there.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

To me, all things that I pour my creative soul into are amazing. To pick out one, however...
We made a game wiht Powerpoint as the game engine. It's better than it sounds, trust me.

Other than that: here's a really cool thing me and my friends did (it Lynyrd Skynyrd all translated to Slovak, even the music is ours): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLvDCqXt3IU&ab_channel=657propaganda

Teach, Learn, Share

The thing I’m most passionate about and I would love to explain it to you is math and informatics (computer science). What? You don’t want to do math in your free time? No? What a shame, never would’ve guessed… Anyway, I am willing help with anything computer related, as well some cooking and baking knowledge. I can also share some guitar experience, but I’m quite new to guitar techniques myself, so yeah. What I want to do the MOST is take you bouldering some time. It's a great sport and I'm positive you'll enjoy it too.

For learning, I'm looking for a singing partner to teach me some stuff, and also just gather more experience in cooking various dishes, but if you have a cool skill you're willing to share, I'm all in!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm flexible. I can help with cooking and cleaning (i'm not your maid tho!) and I can share all amenities. Other than that, when you host me (and Klara), you'll probably get a dinner offered ;), as well as a small gift from our country.

Countries I’ve Visited
