About Me

I'm a student of architecture, currently studying in Bath, England.
I was born in Denmark, but moved to London when I was 15.

I lived a happy life in a small town in Denmark, but it was only when I moved to London and started at an international school that I realized what I had been missing out on - the many great cultures and people of our planet. I quickly got friends from all over the world and since I've been much more open minded about our differences and similarities and they still continue to fascinate me.

As an aspiring architect this is also of great value to me as I am designing for people of all backgrounds.
I'm currently studying at the University of Bath. I wish to continue my studies in Copenhagen and then later on work as an architect around the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When working for a Touring Company in Greenland I met another couch surfer, Andrew, from Sydney, Australia. He told me about his experiences, meeting all these wonderful strangers all over the world, sharing their lives with him and I thought it sounded wonderful!
I would love to meet new people, but hosting might be difficult as I am living in a shared house with other students and I am not sure how they would feel about it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies
Cloud Atlas: I love the theme of overcoming greater power and standing up for what you believe in, while also connecting all the individual people to show that we are connected to our past and future.
À la folie... pas du tout (He Loves Me... He Loves Me Not): Watching this movie when I was about 13 opened my mind to how different people view the world differently. Till this day I still remember this movie for the powerful impression it made on me.

Books
Inussik - Pejling mod Grønland (Moving to Greenland) (This book tells about the Greenlandic culture from a Danish perspective)
The Tao of Pooh (Taoism explained using Winnie the Pooh)
The Reason I Jump (A Japanese guy with autism telling his own story about being autistic)
Reasons to Stay Alive (About a depressive man telling about his struggles with depression and how he got through it)
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance (A biography about a professor/philosopher who tries to find the roots of reason, but eventually goes insane)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Working in Greenland as a Tour Guide and Captain, enjoying the beautiful nature every single day, through sunshine, rain and storms.

My physique, which I have gained from various sports since I was young. I believe, like Socrates, that no man or woman should grow old without seeing what their bodies are truly capable of.

Teach, Learn, Share

Our generations are standing on the shoulders of giants and while we keep growing in terms of science and technology, our social knowledge and understanding is lacking way behind.
Our planet's greatest challenge is our diversity, our differences. However, this is also our greatest gift! Today we have the amazing opportunity to overcome these differences, to expand our minds and open ourselves to others. With more than 1 billion people travelling every year, now is the best time to truly get to know each other and make peace with our differences.

I believe that once you get to know a stranger, their story and see the world from their point of view, you will be less able to dislike them. Then you can only emphasize with them and understand their struggles.
Strangers may be scary, but a stranger is just a friend you haven't met.

One thing is travelling, but moving is truly amazing, By living in another place for a longer period of time you really get to know the culture and the locals. Before the age of 20 I had paid taxes in three different countries in which I have lived, and I plan to live in many more places!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am very open-minded. I love talking about differing views, if people agree with me too much I sometimes change the conversation and start asking them questions to open up for more points of view.
I have traveled and lived in a handful of countries which has given me many great experiences to share. But I also love to hear your stories. Though it is not so much to hear about what amazing things you saw or did. I am more interested in hearing about how it made you feel, what you thought about it, whether it changed you.
