About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Be thoroughly silly in as many places as possible

ABOUT ME

Usually silly (lots of laughing) but sometimes serious. I actively seek happiness and adventure and always try to do things that make me a little bit scared. I get a huge amount of enjoyment out of people and their stories; travel; the great outdoors; books, music and film; taking photos; good tea and coffee; and weather, whether it's gorgeously sunny or chucking it down. I am a social sciences student and given half a chance will geek out on politics and such like.

PHILOSOPHY

Things don't have to be useful or purposeful if they're really fun.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can sometimes host in termtime (Cambridge) if I'm not too busy, though I think I'll be too busy next year with finals. Always keen for coffee/a drink in Cambridge/Southampton.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Julie and Christoph welcomed me to their lovely Parisian apartment and took great care of me. I met Chris in Aberdeen and we chatted for hours. Suzanne showed me Amsterdam by tram diversion, cooked beautiful food and shared her amazing quirky flat with us. Mike saved our asses and made us feel totally at home in De Pijp. Amazing times last summer with Ben in Berlin and Ramon in Budapest. Hoping for many more!

Interests

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is difficult. To be honest the things that spring to mind aren't necessarily the most impressive sounding - moments alone or with friends really. But a handful of slightly exciting ones... Galloping across Dartmoor on a high-spirited Appaloosa. Getting picked up by the most interesting people while hitching in France. Rafting in New Zealand. Jumping into a river from a really high ledge while all my instincts are telling me not to. Scary mountain drives. Dinner on a rooftop in Amsterdam. You get the gist..

Teach, Learn, Share

All my 'skills' are useless. I can show you a bit of linguistics or political philosophy (and am always happy to) but my best skills are baking, making elaborate drinks (cocktails, ice cream sodas, milkshakes), breakfasts, toasties and inventive snacks when there's very little in the house (plenty of experience).

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Croatia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
