About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To figure out how to travel 20.000km in the blink of an eye.

ABOUT ME

Bicultural by nature, my long-standing passion for local history is apparent to anyone soon after meeting me. This is why I'm so keen to meet up with like-minded people who are eager to teach me about their hometown and country!

Currently working in the International council of museums, I'm very keen to discover the collections shown abroad while also exploring new cities and meeting interesting people.

For the last 8 years, I have been working as a volunteer re-enactor specialising in the history of food in the Roman Empire. I'd be very happy to show you how to cook a delicious Roman meal in exchange for a place to stay!

PHILOSOPHY

"How dangerous can it be?!"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Having just finished my last contract, I'm on my way back to stay with my parents for a few weeks, so sadly I don't have the ability to have surfers stay over!

As soon as I escape to the freedom of single living, though, I'll be very glad to be able to host visitors once more.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, I've almost only ever been a host. All of last year, my two flatmates and I had surfers over almost weekly and it was a great experience. It's so much fun having viistors from Germany, Brazil and everywhere else!

At the time, we relied on the profile belonging to another flatmate, so sadly they weren't accounted for on my profile!

Interests

To me, the essence of a city is deeply tied to its history, but not only! As a keen foodie, I'm very eager to discover the specialities (sweet and otherwise!) of other European countries. And then hopefully, to learn how to replicate them at home!

Music, Movies, and Books

My musical cultureis sadly lacking and I'm keen for a quick education in the subject.

I love books relating to the history of a place or people. I'm currently reading an account of life for women in WW2 munition factories and the next ones up on the list will teach me about life in the Roman legion in the British Isles!

Last film I saw was Brave. It rules. Go and see it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Shipyards in Bangladesh.
Stags in the Scottish highlands.
A marching Roman legion.
Caves painted 17,000 years ago and still as beautiful today as when they were created.

Teach, Learn, Share

Everyone's read Asterix, right? And everyone noticed the outlandish meals the Roman occupants always seemed to eat!

But did you know that everyday Roman cooking was nothing like that? Perhaps I could teach you the difference and we could share a meal of Mital ex Praecoquis followed by honey and sesame cakes!

Countries I’ve Visited

Countries I’ve Lived In
