About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learning Italian and developing and international network of friends to illuminate the transformative experience of travel... that sounds good, right? Currently, I'm living in Bologna, Italy for part of the year, and traveling when I can. The rest of the time I'm in the USA... San Francisco, Chicago, New York...

ABOUT ME

Army brat. I've lived in Cleveland, Ohio; Boston, Massachusetts; New York, New York; Jersey City, New Jersey: Fort Benning, Georgia; Tampa, Florida; Fort Hood, Texas; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Tempe, Arizona; San Francisco, Sacramento, Morrow Bay, San Jose and Los Angeles, California; Seattle, Washington; Vancouver, British Columbia/Canada; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Chicago,Illinois; San Juan, Puerto Rico and Bologna, Italy.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that you serve the world best by being true to passions and commitments; by being most truly who you are.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've participated in groups and tried to help a few folks out with information, travel related and otherwise. When I am a guest, I try to be a good guest, and I thoroughly appreciate my host's efforts to make me comfortable. I've gotten to meet some great people on tow continents because of couchsurfing! So I guess the trick to to be humble, be open and enjoy the community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couch surfed several times, as a guest. Each was a great experience. I look forward to being able to host in the future... possibly soon in Modena, Italy.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music... too eclectic: I like a little bit of everything.

Movies: The Hunger; Careful, He Might Hear You; Bladerunner; Amelie; Mulholland Drive; Enchanted April; The Women; The Ring; The Red Shoes; Star Wars; All About Eve; The Others; Howard's End; The Shining; St Vincent; The Royal Tenenbalms; Rebecca; Moonrise Kingdom; Little Miss Sunshine; The Sixth Sense...

Television: BSG (Battlestar Galactic, remake), The Good Wife, Orange Is The New Black, Downton Abbey, Sherlock, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Leftovers, Looking, Mad Men, Episodes, Game of Thrones...

Books: The Amazing Adventures of Kavelier and Clay by Michael Chabon, The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, The Goldfinch, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, American Gods, Frankenstein...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was stuck on a flight circling San Francisco, missing the dinner I had scheduled with friends in the area. Below us were a line of mountains, holding the fog back from the desert. The sun was setting, turning the roiling fog a vivid crimson, while the moon rose over the desert into a clear, cobalt sky. It may have been the most beautiful thing I am conscious of having seen.
