In 2016, I got fed up with taking short holidays while working full-time and spontaneously bought a one-way ticket out of Sydney. Starting in Thailand, I slow-travelled my way around Asia before making my way to Europe . To date, I've lived in 7 cities across 3 continents and am loving this crazy, once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been amazed at the friendliness and open-minded attitude of the Couchsurfing community, with instant friendships being created across the globe. I've found CS to be the best way to see the "real" side of any city. Similarly, I love being a tour guide - ask me about Sydney, Hanoi or Berlin in particular, and I can give you a million recommendations.
I love learning about how things work, and why. This could be anything from making the perfect breakfast burrito, how to build a website, or learning about the tiny nuances in local culture and history. I'm also fascinated by languages, dialects, and accents.
I tend to spend a lot of time outdoors, go bouldering a couple of times a week, cycle almost everywhere and regularly play basketball and beach volleyball. I also recently started bouldering. I then offset this by eating way too much - I'll try almost anything at least once! Trying new cuisines is which is one of the main reasons why I love to travel.
- beach volleyball
- data science
- behavioral economics
Music, Movies, and Books
I have dozens of playlists for every mood and situation, spanning hundreds of genres - so, everything? I have a soft spot for Australian artists. I also listen to a ton of audiobooks and podcasts.
As for movies and books, I'm working through a huge backlog of classics, though at the moment I've started getting into some German TV shows.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Snuck onto an Air Force base.
Saved a friend's life, twice.
Watched the sunrise from a hot air balloon in Turkey, followed by a wild race across the desert on old motorcycles, before paragliding off a cliff in the afternoon.
Drove across both islands of New Zealand in two and a half weeks.
Slept in a floating bungalow in Thailand, three steps away from a beautiful, warm lake.
Smoked shisha with a Palestinian family in Bethlehem, then partied in the streets of Jerusalem with Israeli hipsters - all in one day.
More than "one" but I love new adventures :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach, learn or share anything on my profile that catches your eye. I challenge you to find a topic that I don't find interesting!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can bring you a gift from the city I'm currently in, cook a meal to share, or kick back and share stories over a drink or three. I can also host you!
