In the warm months I run a small off-grid organic farm in rural Wisconsin, about 90 minutes outside of Minneapolis MN. We seek to make our living from our work on the land as directly as possible, striving to minimize monetary expenses by learning what we can do without, and what we can make ourselves. We sell our produce through our 25-member CSA, a local farmers' market, and to restaurants.

Our dogs are a 12-pound 8 year-old spayed female rat terrier named Widget, and a 10 year-old neutered male border collie named Ace. Both are used to be around other dogs, cats, chickens, geese, and humans.

When the coldest months of winter come to the North and our farm is covered in snow and ice, my husband Gabe and our two good dogs pack up and head South, where we work on other organic farms, in exchange for food & board - as well as new experiences, friends, and perspectives. (Through the WWOOF-USA program.) And this year, we are joined by our 20-month old son, Otis - a good-natured, novelty-loving boy.
