Overview
About Me
I am both costarrican and a U.S. citizen. I live in Tarbaca, a beautiful mountainous area south of San José. Work at my family's Restaurant in Tarbaca on weekends. It's called Casa Candelaria. I am called to begin working at a High School in Cartago by the end of next July, part time., teaching philosophy and values. I am concluding coursework for a litentiate in philosophy and aim to do a thesis as of next August. This at the University of Costa Rica.
Contemporary dance is one of the things I've enjoyed doing for some time now. On and off since 2011. Lately at the Taller Nacional de Danza.
Most of my time lately is dedicated to studying, mostly philosophy. Dancing is something I enjoy greatly. I recently began taking private german lessons.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My very brief experience with CS dates back to about 10 years ago. I hosted Neus, a very cool traveler from Barcelona, when I lived at an appartment near the University of Costa Rica. Other references are from friends. One of them my danish roommate and friend from 2009, Magnus.
I am interested in reaching people from Santiago (Chile) for a possible venture in October. I have been invited to a Workshop at a University there, and am looking for a host.
Interests
I might eventually pick up running the Restaurant some time in the near future. I am interested in learning new ways to organize work there. Also, I take it as an opportunity to bring to Tarbaca some music, dance, or other cultural activities, using the Restaurant as stage. I am very concerned about the future of the environment where I live. I am interested in bringing people together to look for ways for a sustainable relationship with the environment. Transportation is an issue that I am interested in finding new ways.

Music, Movies, and Books
More recently, I have been to Radios Swiss Jazz, a jazz and blues radio station from Switzerland. I listen to it on the web, when I work at home or on my phone.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was part of a Radio show at the University Radio Station in 2010. It's been a little while. It's something I enjoyed very much and am looking for ways to update and pick up again in regards to my current projects. On one occasion I did a series of interviews with members of panamenian civil society in regards to critical political events in 2010.
Also, by December 2012 I traveled by bus through Central America, with friends, and got up to Palenque, in Chiapas, Mexico. We were at the mayan ruins, crossed the border by land into Guatemala, and got to know San Salvador for a few days. It was a remarkable experience.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can help travellers move around the Metropolitan Area in San José to find what their interests call for.
