About Me

I am an art historian passionate about communities, their cultures, and lived spaces. I want to travel generously to experience the same. Both urban landscapes and nature thrills me, and your advice on where I can go missing next is welcome. I'm keen to learn about you and your city, clean up after myself and help you with chores when I'm staying at yours. I am happy to be in your company but also extremely comfortable being solitary. I have got a knack for traveling alone, what keeps me sane going through life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The way I have understood and decided to experience travel doesn't allow me to waste my time at neutral spaces like hotels. I want to travel deeply and extensively. Couchsurfing is a value I believe in, although I have arrived at it quite late. I am excited that I am yet to explore this space of non-commercial traveling, and meet people whose paths may not have crossed mine, whose stories I may not have learnt. Going against all world-currents of currency and business, and come together only to support travel and joy.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am fond of blues, jazz, rhythm and blues, hip hop. A big cinephile, at the moment I'm hooked on to Eastern and Central European, and Middle Eastern cinema. The film I have watched too many times lately is Vera Chytilova's anarchist-feminist comedy-drama Daisies. I disappear in a book every now and then, currently I'm reading Virginia Woolf's genius gender-bending work Orlando, that was so ahead of its times.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my understanding of the cultural and political context I come from. Also a photographer, maybe we can take a photo-walk together. I can bring Indian spices and teas into your life if you so wish.
