About Me

CURRENT MISSION

learnding!

ABOUT ME

Biochemistry major at Rice University. I also do a lot of other stuff. I'm way cool, and I bet you're cool too. We should hang out.

PHILOSOPHY

Favorite philosophers (in no particular order): Nietzsche, Camus, Sartre, Rand, Thoreau, Emerson
I kind of fall somewhere in their general area of the philosophical spectrum. I'm not a huge fan of labels, but atheist, anarchist, existentialist, and egoist all hold some truth when applied to me. I love to discuss philosophy/politics so talk to me some time if you're interested.

Interests

Anything and everything. There's not a lot you could find that I don't find fascinating. A short list of favorites: astronomy, biology, cooking, language, electronics, history, travel, philosophy

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A couple months ago, some friends and I took a trip to climb the highest peak in Texas (2,667m - not that high, I know) and when we woke up at sunrise in our camp near the summit of the mountain, the entire world below us was blanketed with this absolutely impenetrable fog, shrouding the world in a sea of white, except for the jagged red peaks, streaked with green vegetation, poking out into the vast blue vault of the sky and the iridescent red glow of the rising sun through the clouds below. After reaching the summit and packing up our camp, we headed down the mountain as the fog, heated by the sun, moved up to meet us. After the point at which we met the fog, the were hiking through an icy wonderland. The cloud covered everything with tiny crystalline particles of ice, from the trees above our heads to the scrub and cacti beneath our feet, truly giving us the sense that we had descended into the whiteness that we had seen from above earlier in the day. It was really neat. Check it out:

Teach, Learn, Share

I can hold a coherent conversation on a wide variety of topics, and would love to teach to/learn from you.
Practical knowledge is a little shakier in my case... I could teach you to program in a couple languages, speak a couple more, and I'm not a bad cook. Also I can sequence DNA like a pro, but I don't think that comes up very often...
