ABOUT ME
Growing in life and learning to love it!
I am fun, in love with the world, and try to spend my time making the most of it! I'm from the Detroit and Lansing areas in Michigan, where I recently moved from. I've been to 48 of the United States of America and want to use my new location in Michigan to see some new west coast things!
PHILOSOPHY
The only thing that needs be taken seriously is responsibility... everything else is off the table.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've hosted and surfed. Both have been great! I'd like to make some new CS friends now. Feel free to send me a message.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
The first time I hosted was at the US Social Forum in Detroit in 2009. After that, I traveled the US and Canada. While a host, I tried to be accommodating as much as possible. I had a great experience and truly bonded with my guest. It was the only time someone has surfed with me.
Whilst traveling I had some good experiences in Seattle, Vancouver, and Montreal with emergency/last minute hosts. They did good for me and I'm here to return the favor. One of my favorite travel experiences was in Seattle. I only stayed one night, but the person I was being hosted by took me to a party, we drank beer and made pizza. It turned out to be a good experience!
I try not to impose on people's "normal" lives and hope others would do the same for me. Eat, sleep, and be merry!
Interests
New places, local beers, local people, books, bikes, a little bit of everything.
Traveling: I'd like to criss-cross Canada and at some point, go back to Central America. I also need to practice my Spanish!
Cooking! I love to cook and love to cook with people. If you want to Couchsurf with me I might ask you to teach me something to cook!
Music: post-rock, trip hop, and anything! I LOVE live music. I have been from German black metal concerts to pop concerts and everything in between.
Books: A Song of Ice and Fire, Fletch, Lord of the Rings, Dreams from my Father, Their Eyes Were Watching God... I have been reading a lot since I finished college, so it's a pretty broad area.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A couple years ago I was in Bocas Del Toro, Panama. I was there during rainy season and it absolutely flooded all of the villages and the roads back to Costa Rica. So a three-hour bus ride turned into this incredible voyage through all of these small towns, walking really far to find places where the buses could reach. In the end, I saw some of the most beautiful parts of the country I would never have seen before.
Teach, Learn, Share
Conflict Resolution skills. I work in conflict resolution as a professional, so being mindful and attempting to resolve issues are things I practice daily. I would love to share some of my conflict resolution philosophies with others.
