ABOUT ME

I grew up in Lawrence, Kansas, the liberal dot in the sea of conservative Midwest America. I tried a few times to find someplace else to find home, but it seems I wasn't going far enough. I moved to Germany when I was about 24 on what was supposed to be a one year exchange program... But then pretty much never went back to the US. I felt so happy in my new home that I renounced my US citizenship to become a citizen of Germany. For now, my home is still in Europe, but who knows what I'll find in the future.

PHILOSOPHY

In the end everything turns out how it turns out... might as well enjoy it while you can.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've couchsurfed, and met many interesting people all over the world. I also love local meetings, so can't wait until we can start again.

I started going to larger events in 2011, and now can't get enough of them! I was at many Wintercamps:

I've been to a few CSinterklaas events, and once to Maastricht carnival. I'm also an avid summer camper, many times at Belgium camp, Mont Royal, and the big Franconian meeting. I plan to do even more in the coming years!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Prior to this website, I've had many guests from all over the world at my house in Kansas. Germans, Russians, Chinese, British, Polish... It's always a pleasure to show them a little about the Midwest USA.

Since joining the site, I've opened up to even more people, and have had an amazing time getting to know cultures different to those I live in.

Interesses

Foreign cultures and Languages. Making friends. Seeing the world.

I speak English and German. I'm now learning Spanish as well, but still have a long road ahead of me!

I play the Ukulele, and love it when people sing along!

I've been recently getting into Bluegrass and Old Time music. I spent almost two weeks camping at a Bluegrass festival in southern Kansas, and like it so much I've started playing the fiddle.

In the summer of 2010 I cycled all the way across the USA, raising money and awareness for people with disabilities along the way.
