Overview
About Me
Hi! I’m Sergey — an open-hearted, thoughtful person who’s rebuilding his life from the ground up. I recently moved to the Netherlands as a refugee after it became too dangerous for me to continue my work as an independent journalist in Russia.
At 34, I made the decision to start over — and here I am in Amsterdam, learning Dutch, making new connections, and staying true to who I am.🥹
I’ve been a political and social journalist for many years, working with independent media and covering topics that mattered — often at personal risk. Although I’m no longer working full-time in journalism, I still write when I can, especially on themes like democracy, migration, and human rights.
I’m part of the LGBTQ+ community🏳️🌈 and proud of it. I have a wonderful partner here in Amsterdam, and together we try to create a calm, supportive life while staying engaged with the world.
I don’t drink alcohol at all — I just feel better that way, and it helps me stay present.😊
I’m new to Couchsurfing and not yet an experienced surfer — but I’m excited to try it and to meet people who believe in openness and trust. I value honesty, quiet kindness, deep conversations, and moments that help you see the world from a new perspective.
If we meet, I’ll bring sincerity, curiosity, and hopefully some stories worth sharing.🤲
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
