About Me

I was raised half my life in Guatemala and have been living in NYC the other half.
I have always been fascinated by the fact that there are too many places to visit in this world. Of course living in NYC is a shortcut to virtually all the cultures of this planet. Which is the main reason I have decided to establish myself in this concrete jungle.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have to give credit to the person who inspired me the most to activate this profile and expose it to the world to see it. She was the very first person that I got to meet online back in the late 90's and then got to meet her in person around 2005, and then I hosted her and her daughter and niece a few years ago. She loved to travel the world and would always find a way to travel as often as she could; I do not think she was on CouchSurfing though, but she always mentioned that she would sleep on the floor if necessary :).
I have had my share of traveling, but not as much as I would like to, (mostly within USA). So now it's time to make plans and experience more of this wonderful globe that we have the blessing to live in.
And meet more local places and people in this beautiful city that I call home.
ps. My good friend is no longer in this world, she passed away last month (November) (RIP my friend).

Interests

Eclectic is the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to describing my interests. I have been an animal party and a hermit (monk-like - not literally).
Love swimming, hence love the beach; the weather is usually not an issue to me; I enjoy the 4 seasons around the year and everything in between.
At this stage of my life I have experienced a lot of things, and value and appreciate evey single step of the way, even when things don't go as planned.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have read one too many books - mostly self-help to psychology, to philosophy, to many forms of religion - mostly Buddhism, (I'm not religious though). Listen to a lot of types of music, from chillout to ambient, house, reggae, hip-hop, rock, today's pop, oldies, bachata, reggaeton, salsa, etc. And yes I can dance too, ;) .
I try to go at least once a month to watch movies, and especially when there are 2 or more good ones playing. I enjoy watching documentaries as well as some anime and/or cartoons. Eclectic is my middle name.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Meditated through so many disciplines all the way to the beginning of "awakening".
Yes, I followed many, many ways to meditate, and one day: boom !
Life has never been the same and yet just the same.
Enlightenment is a joker, laughing at every one of "us" every single step.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could share my journey towards Awakening - aka - Enlightenment.
That is if you want to.
We are all in the respective path that we have to walk.
And a perpetual learner of course.
I have a couple of websites where I share my journey (let me know if you are interested)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Experiences, anecdotes, adventures,
A tight but cozy and welcoming place to crash.
A classic Guatemalan breakfast.
A drink or two, or three (beer, wine, whiskey, vodka, rum, etc).
I've been told I'm a great listener.
