I’m from a small town near Oklahoma City (Capitol of Oklahoma, U.S.) I’ve been to France, Italy, Switzerland, U.A. E., Oman, Turkey, Mexico, and every state in the continental US except Maine, Rhode Island, and Washington. My favorite thing to do is kayak, and I go on at least 3-6 kayak trips every summer. I love interesting foods and I’ll try just about anything.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My sister and I enjoy meeting people from all over the world, and have hosted foreign exchange students in the past. I’m hoping to buy a house this summer (currently renting) and will finally open my doors for fellow surfers. I’ve only surfed once in Chamonix, France with a super cool guy at his family farmhouse and it was awesome. I want to be able to reciprocate and meet people from all over the world.

Interests

My favorite thing to do in the whole world is white-water kayaking. I have been canoeing and kayaking since I was very young, but have only in the last few years started to step up my game. The adrenaline rush is awesome. I generally like all the adventure sports like climbing, hiking, and canoeing all of which I do with family and friends primarily in the states of Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Colorado. I've been to almost every state in the continental U.S. and experienced some sort of outdoor camping or hiking in each of them. Being outside is part of me.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Bale Batman trilogy, the Prestige, Mr. Nobody, Memento, Holes, Star Wars (1-6), LOTR, K-Pax.

I like all types of music from Classic Rock to Swing Jazz to Classical and some EDM. But My favorite music is Rap and Hip-Hop. I love Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, Dilated Peoples, J. Cole, B.o.b, Chance The Rapper, Mac Miller, Big KRIT, Childish Gambino, Eminem, The Game, Jay-Z, The Roots, Snoop Dogg and Mos Def. I like some hip-hop made in the last few years, but truly love the old-school stuff from the early 90s to early 00s.

I'm not really a huge reader, but I’ve been reading the Star Wars books recently. And nonfiction because I love history.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Three friends and I took our spring break trip from The American University of Sharjah-Where I studied for a semester-to Turkey for 9 days. The most amazing thing we did while we were there was hike the Ihlara Valley in the Cappadocia region of South-Central Turkey. It was a beautiful canyon with steep walls and a crystal clear river running through. We hiked the 17 km in one day and saw incredible wildlife, but most importantly the history behind the canyon. in as early as the 4th century AD some of the first civilization built a city along the entire length of the canyon by burrowing into the walls of the canyon, forming ancient apartment buildings and early christian churches-where the painting was still visible. Seeing something that old and preserved somewhere besides a museum was probably the coolest thing I've ever seen.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have grown up in a house in the woods outside the city, but attend school, church, and work in downtown OKC. Because of this I have a mixed personality of both a country boy, and city boy with many different experiences and opinions from both parts of me. I went to a very diverse school and have traveled to many places so I am very open-minded and tolerant with people of different backgrounds and cultures. I love learning new things, but also sharing with others how I feel about the world. I also like to cook, so if my host wants a true Oklahoma meal at some point, I can hook you up.
