About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To bodly go where no man has gone before... or at least survive grad school.
ABOUT ME
Hi! I'm an non-smoking American vegetarian triathlete with a dangerously expensive espresso addiction (everyone needs at least one vice). I came to NZ four years ago as a 6 month stop-over on the way to diving the Great Barrier Reef, and one day I'll get there. In the meantime, I'm in graduate school in theater to see if I can stick around some more. If not, I'll keep moving.
PHILOSOPHY
Wear sunscreen. Especially in the Southern Hemisphere.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Travelling right now; very keen to surf.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm a bit new to couch surfing, although I did stay with various friends for a summer while working in theater in the USA... unpaid jobs = major broke-itude = crowded apartments but a lot of fun!
Interests
Goodness... um, cooking (especially Indian food), wine, triathlon, surfing, Surf Lifesaving, reading (science fiction especially), beach, sun, physics, Shakespeare, theater, crochet, food politics, kapa haka (but I can't do any, I just like watching), writing, drinking coffee

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Fight Club, A League of Their Own, Angels in America, Star Wars, The Godfather Parts 1 & 2, Surf's Up, and anything from Disney/Pixar
Books: The best book ever written is Hamlet by William Shakespeare. The second best book ever written is X-wing: Wraith Squadron by Aaron Allston.
Music: Is not terribly important to me, though I wish it were. If it came out of Seattle in the '90s, it is probably on my iPod, beyond that, my tastes are extremely pedestrian. Though I have recently developed a deep (but probably short-lived) loathing for Taylor Swift, mainly because her songs are on alllll the time!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've jumped off a bridge and out of an airplane, climbed a glacier, surfed waves over my head, taught children how to share, and seen water shoot 8 meters into the air in a cliff already 20 meters above sea level, and the wonders just keep coming.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to learn how to do kapa haka, especially long poi dancing! My own talents are very limited, but I can do some basic crochet. I teach surfing, and if that's worrying, well, most of my students are better than I am. :-)
