About Me
Hey! I’m Shain, from Taiwan 🇹🇼
I’m currently traveling across Canada — slow, budget-style, mostly through Workaway or Couchsurfing. I love connecting with locals, exchanging stories, and getting a deeper feel of each place beyond just sightseeing.
I’m easygoing, respectful, and pretty independent. I don’t need much — just good vibes and good people. I love nature, hiking, cooking simple meals (and sharing food from my culture if you’re curious!), and having real conversations about life, travel, or even just random things.
I’ve done some volunteering on farms, hostels, and family homes, and I’ve lived in Australia and now Canada for a while. I’m not here just for a free place to stay — I genuinely enjoy cultural exchange and am always happy to help around or share a laugh.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After a year of working and traveling in Vancouver, I realized how much I enjoy Canada’s diversity and nature. For my second year, I’m planning to travel across the country and hope to connect with locals along the way. Couchsurfing feels like the perfect way to experience different lifestyles and cultures while meeting new people.
Interests
I’m super passionate about art, and in the future, I hope to become a skilled tattoo artist and a special effects makeup artist for film. Before that, I want to travel the world, meet people from different cultures, and collect stories and inspiration along the way.
I’m also really into trying new things — skydiving is definitely on my list, and one day I’d love to train to become a snowboard instructor!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
spent five years on a working holiday in Australia and visited every single state. It took time, but I did it — all while working and exploring the country.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach some Chinese and share about Taiwanese culture. I also studied special effects makeup for film, and I do tattooing too — love anything artsy and creative.
I’m happy to share stories from my years of backpacking and working holidays — the good, the weird, and everything in between.
Always open to learning new skills, hearing people’s stories, and getting inspired by different ways of living.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I’d love to share stories from my backpacking life and working holidays — especially my five years in Australia and now my journey across Canada. I can also share about Taiwanese culture, and I’m happy to teach some Mandarin if you’re interested!
I’m into art and creativity — I’ve studied special effects makeup for film, and I also do tattooing. If you’re curious, I’d be happy to show you my work or chat about the creative process. I’m also always up for cooking together, having good conversations, or just sharing a peaceful moment.
