CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to Jam Around The World, and I and my guitar are street performing our way across Europe this summer.

ABOUT ME

So, what I'm into is creativity and community essentially. I'm a lifelong artist (multiple media), a musician (guitarist/vocalist/percussionist) of 20 years, a passionate cook, and a lover of life and adventure (though I feel like my adventures are just beginning!).

I just turned 40, and interestingly, I feel somehow liberated from former views of myself and where I should be in life. I feel like I have permission to do what I'm here to do now, and that I don't have to live my life by any "shoulds" or "supposed to's" anymore. I'm free to follow my bliss.

So, the start of this quest begins this summer. I'm traveling through Europe, my first real solo traveling adventure, where I plan to play my music wherever and with whomever I can. I'll be blogging the entire experience and making a documentary as well, and recording my jams with people to be released as an album.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm thrilled to have this opportunity to travel and meet new people, and I love to host! I'm always cooking and making sure my guests are at home. That said, my home is currently a very temporary residence, and sadly not suitable for hosting couchsurfers. :o( However! Once I return from my travels this summer, I am looking forward to a long future of hosting couchsurfers from all over the world! :o)

If you are a host, I am always a conscientious house guest. I would love to perform music for you and with you and to cook you dinner to show my thanks for your hospitality, as well as offer you a space to rest in my own home when you are traveling (once I have one again).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Besides the couches I've surfed on my own, I've never done the "CouchSurfing" thing, that is, never on this site. But as I mentioned, I love to host, and I'm very grateful for others' hospitality and the opportunity to meet new and interesting people.

Actually, I've always welcomed couchsurfers to my home and been welcome to many a couch before, so I'm not a complete stranger to the experience.

Interessen

Well, in case you haven't gathered yet, I'm a musician. I just released an album of 12 original acoustic instrumentals (all of which you can hear streaming at http://www.shakiban.com/cusp).

I am also an artist in multiple media. Besides music (sound art), I have a passion for mosaic tile work, drawing, painting, and digital art.

In addition to art and music, I am a budding writer and future film maker (I actually went to school for this). I have been working on a screenplay that I plan to turn into a feature length film within the next few years. I also am looking forward to creating my first documentary, actually recording my trip to Europe and my "Jam Around The World", on which I'll be seeking to collaborate with whomever I can, recording jam sessions and blogging and filming my experience, all to be released as an album and dvd next year. You, yes YOU, can be a part of it!

I also love food, cooking, wine, friends, travel, nature, fun, dancing, exercise, hot tubs, laughter (lots of laughter), co-creation, deep conversation, authenticity, tennis, and meeting new people.
