About Me

I love to share great meals together. I love to laugh and sing- and there is always a place to cry too. I'd always rather be out in nature. Hills, trees, rocks and streams are my favorite but i'll take what i can get. I'm always up for an adventure but you'll have to give me at least an hour to prepare because snacks must be procured. i can never seem to grow anything but that doesn't stop me from trying (i'm a fantastic harvester so one day i'll get the hang of the first part). I talk to myself often (i recently found out that this is odd- no one informed me for 28 years- what's with that? ;)
I sing in the shower, on walks, in public...well pretty much anywhere and it's likely that if you talk to me long enough something you say will remind me of a song and i just won't be able to contain myself. Laughing, singing and dancing (no where special, could just be the living room) is the spice of life and should never be taken for granted.
Well, that is certainly enough about me for now. It's hard for me to get started but usually once I do then it's hard to stop again. I could always tell you more but i'd love to hear more about you instead.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to get to know locals in an area. I'd much rather visit with new friends at night then spend evenings alone in a hotel room. I think it's a great community and way to travel that is being built and I want to be a bigger part of it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've always been enthralled with classical music- now that's a big category so i don't really mean all of it. Dvorak is probably my favorite. Richard Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" get's me anytime and Joe Hisaishi is brilliant. I am by no means well versed but i find bits and pieces here and there that i like. I'm always up for being introduced to new music.
My attachment for certain books comes and goes. I've always loved and will continue to love the following (what gets in as a child rarely leaves): Ender's Game, Anne of Green Gables, Make Way for Ducklings (everyone needs a good children's book) All the Redwall series (they were a staple of my childhood) and so many more from my childhood that i have no place to write here. The bean trees and pigs in heaven by Barbara Kingsolver. Wild Swans by Jung Chang (a must read for everyone). And again...there are too many to list here- i'd always be happy to hear your favorite too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I traveled to Hawaii on a whim. Figured i'd stay about a month- it took me eleven years to leave- which was only last year. I got to build a house, learn to cook, meet and live with some of the most amazing people ever and help a wonderful family raise two fantastic children (they are my stars). I guess that's not one thing but it all started with one decision. So making that decision to get on the plane with my arm in a sling, a telephone number scrawled on a piece of paper (and no cell phone) and a flight that dropped me off on the big island at midnight- well, that was amazing. I don't even know why i did but it's sent me down the most incredible path of my life and filled it with adventures and love.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to teach and share my yoga practice. I'm all about food and sharing great meals together.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm always up for making a fun meal. I've been a vegetarian for many years now and I love to cook and bake. I also I love to sing and play music. I practice a call and response form of meditation and i'm always happy to share it with others.
