About Me

Private pilot, cosmologist, artificial intelligence researcher, nyse+nasdaq investor

96% of our Universe is unknown to us. I research on the origin and the fate of our Universe, and the nature of dark matter - without which nothing in the universe, including us, could have formed; and dark energy - which has taken over our Universe since the past 3-4 billion years, making it undergo runaway expansion, and ripping it apart, and will eventually rip apart the atoms and cells in our bodies too. But this won't happen (if it does happen) for many trillions of years. You got enough time to finish your coffee and Cape Town vacation :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. Took a long-exposure image of Andromeda galaxy and the Trifid nebula from my balcony in Kansas.
2. Became a private pilot in the USA.
3. Learnt paragliding in India: When I came in for landing, I saw a cow in my path. And a tree behind her. My instructor on the ground, radioed me to "fold the wings, and land before the cow. That is your only option". I was still 20 feet in air, so folding the wings would have made me drop me like a stone. And I was keen to live a few more years. ahaha.. Cows moo. Cows are also softer than trees... so I decided to go for the cow. At 10 feet, my blood turned into yogurt. The cow was a buffalo bull, with fat horns. So I decided to go for the tree !! I somehow folded my legs to avoid getting pulped by the bull horns. The bull closed his eyes. I guess he too was not enjoying the situation ... Like a date where nobody wants to be ? I smashed into the tree, dangling. I enjoyed the dangling though, felt like a hammock. The rest of the team arrived in 5 minutes, and pulled me down. I spent the rest of the evening pulling out thorns from my shoulders, arms, fingers, thighs ;) Next day, was another day.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can talk about the unsolved mysteries of our Universe. And Indian mythology, some of which by the way accurately describes our Universe !
