About Me

ethical hedonist. visual anthropologist. queer libertine. intrepid psychonaut. cat whisperer.

i'm canadian but now living in denmark (and soon berlin!) and trying to use this greater accessibility to europe and beyond as an excuse to travel more than ever.

i love humans with open hearts and minds. i enjoy sharing food and wine and conversation. i'm a great cook, an attentive listener, and an enthusiastic partner in crime. i love to dig in gardens and tackle small homesteading projects. i live for creative collaborations and exciting intellectual dynamics.

i appreciate stillness and damp forest and woodstove coziness as much as i delight in frenetic urban energy and debaucherous late night frolics. i can just as easily exhaust myself in fresh air adventures and sleep at sunset as i can carouse through the night and keep dancing long after the sun has risen.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

i'm most interested in couchsurfing as a means to meet interesting local people and have a more genuine experience of the places i visit. if i send a request, it's because i'm intrigued by the host and excited by what we might share, rather than just seeking the use of their couch. of course i totally understand that sometimes hosts are busy but in general i'm aiming for interaction rather than simply accommodation - let's hang out, tell stories, and share a meal or two! so far i've found couchsurfing to be a great way to connect with cool people and enjoy some amazing times wherever i go, especially when travelling alone. i've also had some wonderful times hosting people from all over the world - it's been really enjoyable to hear about their life and adventures and point them in the direction of my favourite 'secret' places of the city.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i did an anthropology field school program in the taiga and tundra of northern russia a few years ago - some of the most amazing, remote, and beautiful places i've ever been.

i did a solo backpacking journey from madrid through andalusia and fell in love with the kind people, the amazing landscape, and the rich history and culture. granada and alhambra were pure magic!

i hiked mt. sinai in the middle of the night to watch the sunrise from the summit. i'm not a religious person but it was a profoundly spiritual experience.

What I Can Share with Hosts

i love good conversations. i can hold my own on a range of topics, from profound to ridiculous. i also have a pretty great sense of humour.

i love exploring places with other people, whether meandering around the city, or trekking in the countryside, and it's great to be able to appreciate someone else's favourite spots with them.

i mix a decent cocktail, and i can whip up a pretty nice meal with just a few simple ingredients.
