About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Working on a memoir about some Couchsurfing adventures of years past 🚂

ABOUT ME

Writer, editor, animal lover… I’ve been getting into dance a lot lately too. I started learning salsa & bachata about a year ago, and now I’m a little obsessed. I’ve taken a few belly dancing lessons as well.

I run a literary nonprofit called Longleaf Press and work full-time as a digital marketing manager working on a memo in the financial industry, so I’ve been pretty busy these days and not traveling or hosting as much as I used to. I love the community & love meeting travelers, though, so feel free to message if you’re in my neck of the woods and want to meet up. :)

PHILOSOPHY

I treat people with dignity and hope that they will do the same.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Backpacked solo cross-country via Amtrak in 2017 and again in 2021. Here is my travel blog: https://shannoncamlinward.com

Teach, Learn, Share

I love poetry and linguistics. I taught creative writing and literature for eleven years, so I love to talk about language. I also love to listen to people talk about anything they are passionate about. For instance, I don't really watch baseball, but I could listen to Ken Burns talk about it for hours.
I'm also a pretty darn good knitter, so I'd be happy to teach you that. And I'm competent enough in the kitchen to whip up a pretty decent meal.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Happy to pitch in around the house, make dinner, etc.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Chile, England, France, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Saint Lucia
