I am a postdoctoral researcher at GFU Prague. I am currently working on the glaciers in the Southern Alps. Being a geographer, I love to travel to new places and meet new people. Working on different problems related to the earth's history and future is my passion. Currently, I and my mentor are trying to find out the oldest glaciers that have flowed down from the high mountains of the Alps. For this, we go to the field and collect many rocks to find out the ages. This is quite interesting and I am very enthusiastic to tell these stories to the people I meet. You can expect a lot of Geological stories from me. I can take you to millions of years in the past. Currently, I am in Prague and very soon I will start travelling with my beautiful wife. Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am new to Couchsurfing because previously, I have only used paid hotels or other sites. But, now I feel that this is the best platform to know more people and share many things with them. I am here not only for getting a host to stay with, but I also expect to meet new people in different places.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am from India, so I love classical music. Music is considered serious art. Many of my close relatives are experts in music. I also love traditional Bollywood music. Besides Indian music style, I also like to listen to Western Classical and modern music. But, I do not like hard metal or rap.
I can watch all kinds of movies in any language. My home Bengal has produced many directors who were adored by the whole world (e.g. Satyajit Ray). I have already suggested many movies to my colleagues from US. You can also expect recommendations.
Currently, I am not into many books other than research papers and reference books. So, I am not a person to suggest or recommend books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once I had started talking to a Swiss guy about the mountain building process at his home. The discussion took 3 hours to complete. I love to talk.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a trained geographer and work in the geological evolution of mountains and glaciers. I have a PhD degree and I love to teach young people. During my PhD, I took many sessions on different topics. So, I love to exchange thoughts and ideas with different people.
I am also a good student. So, I can listen to people for hours on different topics that I do not understand.
I want to share my culture, ideas, and knowledge with all the people around the world.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share a great time with my hosts. I can talk for hours and also can listen for hours. Besides this, I am a good cook. So, I can also cook delicious local cuisine that all my friends love.
