A girlfriend of mine who travels quite often recommended it to me. I will be taking my first trip to Europe in a few weeks and thought it would be a great time to try it. I've heard that couchsurfing with locals brings a more genuine experience of the culture you are trying to become more familiar with and that often times they have the best tips and advice for places to try and things to do.
