ABOUT ME

I am easy going, creative, friendly, warm, have a good sense of humour, and a sense of adventure :-)

I love painting and I love art. I love traveling, seeing new places, experiencing local life & culture in different countries. I love good converstaion & meeting interesting people. I love listening to good music and I really love to dance.

I used to work as a graphic designer, but started to get frustrated at having to do such commercial work, and started to feel like a corporate slave. For a bit of a change, I took up a position working as an English language instructor in South Korea.

Later on in Perth, I decided to do something more closely related to my passion for fine art and painting, so I became an art teacher, and taught both primary and high school students.

When I return home again after this trip, I plan to work part time only, so that I can put more time and energy into my own art. That's the only way I'll progress far enough to quit my day job!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted travelers at my house in Perth before. I didn't meet them on this website though; they were people I met while traveling myself. I told them they were welcome to stay at my place when they visited Australia. When I am back in Perth after this trip, I plan to host people again.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just joined CS recently. Have stayed with 3 hosts so far, and had an awesome time!

Art, Painting, Sculpture, Photography.

Society, & how people are conditioned, Brainwashing by the mass media and how it shapes our world, Psychology & perception, Language & how language shapes thoughts and perception, Philospohy & the nature of reality, Quantum mechanics (although I am by no means an expert, I just find it fascinating), Animal intelligence, the power of our subconscious.

I am also interested in things of a spiritual nature, although I am not religious at all.

Music: electro, dubstep, industrial. Radiohead, Joy Division, REM, Skinny Puppy, MIA, The Flaming Lips, Beck, Nick Cave, The Birthday Party, Massive Attack, Portishead, Byork, Bauhaus, smog, The Presets, Depeche Mode, Sigur Ros, Red House Painters & many many more which are too hard to list right now.

Movies: David Lynch films, The Piano Teacher, Human Traffic, The Usual Suspects, Solaris, Vanilla Sky, Magnolia, American Beauty, Lost in Translation, Natural Born Killers, Broken Flowers, The Darjeeling Limited, Event Horizon, Fight Club, and many others that I can't think of right now. I hate predictable formulaic Hollywood movies.

I also love good documentaries: social & political documentaries by John Pilger, Nature documentaries by David Attenborough, and good science documentaries.

Latest books I've read: Don't sleep - there are snakes; Francis Farmer's autobiography; In Praise of Slow.

Seeing the Himalayas for the first time, rising above the clouds.

Sleeping on the desert sand in Rajasthan and waking up to see the the milky way galaxy more clearly than ever before, including dozens of shooting stars!

My knowledge: painting, art, nature, animals, especially insects. My students told me that I was a good at teaching English.
