ABOUT ME

In my senior year of high school, a few students and staff took a trip to the Dominican Republic to experience what life is like for people in a different part of the world. We billeted with families in Consuelo, and visited some of the poorest parts of the country -- sugar cane plantations, barrios, and rural villages. This experience was extremely moving and forever changed the way I see the world.

Since then, I've been on a mission to better understand the human experience. I studied economics in university, with a focus on development economics. I've worked in different industries -- trade work as a painter, intellectual work as a banker, restaurant work as a busboy.

I'm trying to soak up as much life experience as I can!

PHILOSOPHY

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm currently travelling, so I can't host. I'd like to get involved with some CS volunteer work to contribute more to the community.

One of my life goals is to build a house. Once I'm able to do this, I'll definitely have a couch to host surfers!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had a great time in Nashville while couchsurfing! Saw the local scene, met a few local music legends at a dive bar, and had my insides shredded by Prince's Hot Chicken. Delicious!

Interests

Art! Music, paintings, sculpture, architecture, literature, poetry... you name it.

Sports! Hockey, soccer, baseball, rugby, and many more.

Travelling! I love travelling by motorcycle. It really gives life to the phrase "the open road".

Empathy! I love to meet people and put myself in their shoes. If I'm able to understand where they are coming from, I'm able to expand my own horizons.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love almost all music. A few of my favorite bands are The National, Arcade Fire, Old Crow Medicine Show, Tool, Gotan Project, Atmosphere, Rage Against the Machine, Wolf Parade, Passion Pit, and many more...

I'm open to almost any kind of movie, but I'm partial to documentaries and zombie movies :)

I'm currently reading A Call to Conscience, a collection of speeches by Martin Luther King Jr.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skydiving! It's the closest I've ever been to flying, and who doesn't dream about that?!?

I'm a professional painter. Not in the artistic sense, but if you want to learn how to paint a house efficiently, I can teach you!

I'd like to learn languages. French and Spanish are my priorities.
