All of this is outdated. I've spent the past year on a spiritual journey and everything is different. I would be thrilled to exchange stories.
Learn about the human mind, an amazing and never dull piece of machinery. At the same time, I'm learning more about the things we can't well know through analysis. For example, I've been doing reiki for a year or so and am continually surprised at how people receive it.
I'm a friendly, social guy, loves good conversation, especially over a glass of wine. Non-smoker, have a couple roommates, like to travel but never enough of it.
I moved to New York around 3 years ago, from Austin TX. I've spent most of that time working for the great company I'm a part of. Unfortunately that means not spending enough time exploring the city. Well, except for speakeasies, and I do know a couple good ones that I like to share with people visiting.
I used to play bass guitar and spin vinyl, but don't do much of any of it at the moment. I still enjoy going to see amazing, thought-provoking movies.
I like to talk politics, sociology, religion, movies, and just about any subject you can think of. I want to hear different perspectives, especially about how our cultures are the same and different.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I hosted more when I used to live in Austin, TX, but I'm just starting again in New York.
My first experience was 2011, meeting a wonderful gentleman in Dublin who was super awesome and even sang a few songs for us! I was able to host a pair of Americans for SXSW this year, and a pair of Germans a bit later. Everyone was great and friendly and (yet again) awesome.
It's cliche to say, but I love music, either going to see live performance or discovering new groups. And in general, I'm interested in just about everything, from staying in a city and going to museums by day or a club by night, as well as relaxing in the country, reading a book.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Children of Men, Barry Lyndon, Amelie, The Pianist, Almost Famous, Lawrence of Arabia, Scrooge, Moulin Rouge, Lord of the Rings
Music: Currently listening to electro-pop with female vocalist, especially Émilie Simon right now. But my taste covers hard rock like Queens of the Stonge Age to Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals.
Books: I've started to read the 100 greatest novels in the world and I think I have around 94 to go. Great Expectations I think was my favorite, but Don Quixote is a nice read, though long. Currently reading Native Son.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent a month in Cameroon doing volunteer work where my only shower was dumping a bucket of water on my head and where kids daily would point at me and yell "white man white man!"
Teach, Learn, Share
Wow, so many thinks I love to share and talk about: French. Krav Maga. DJing. Cooking. Programming. Soldering. Building a birdhouse. Forgetting things. Remembering things.
