About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn all there is about sustainability, to travel the world with as low a carbon footprint as possible (!) and to meet and learn from great people!

ABOUT ME

I "do sustainability". This means I work with businesses, governments, individuals, etc to think systematically in such a way that ensures balance between the natural resources, human needs, and a healthy and stable society. This profession is a love, as it touches on all facets of my life -- friends and family, outdoor activities, and civic participation. Not bad!

I'm also a musician -- a singer, really. I can't get enough music in my life, from performing it to seeing it live, to "matching the mood" wherever I am, to locking myself in a quiet room with headphones and listening to an awesome album, feeling it, etc. It's the one thing that will truly move my emotions. Music really adds balance to the soul!

I went to grad school in Sweden and fell in love with it, so I decided to stay. This place is amazing, and I really enjoy the country.

CS has been amazing. I have so many wonderful people, done some awesome activities and made many friends for life! I love travel, I love meeting new people, and I love breaking down barriers. You only live once, right?! I look forward to meeting as many CS folks as possible. Perhaps you're next?

PHILOSOPHY

Life happens; you decide how you're going to happen with it.

BOOKS:
Too many to list. I love the ones that you read, and all of a sudden you're like, yes! this makes something in my life make sense. This happened with High Fidelity by Nick Hornby, Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole and Silent Spring by Rachel Carson. really enjoyed Interpreter of Maladies. Zinn, Kafka, Chomsky. Lots of stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been fortunate to see so many wonderful things and places. Perhaps the best was a little village in the Andes Mountains in Bolivia. With a group of classmates, we forged relationships with people so seemingly different than us, yet so similar in many ways. We built a school alongside locals, and we made future education possible. Awesome. Oh yeah, and the view from up there rocked!

I'd also say, for different reasons, mountain biking in Moab, Utah was completely amazing. I nearly died, and in that, I found myself. It’s weird how things work out.
