About Me

About Me:

Traveler from the USA. I love exploring new places and creating new friends. I'm a quiet person by nature but I often surround myself with outgoing people. I have an interest in cooking and am not above having dessert before dinner.

Future travel plans: Wherever the wind blows, at this point! Life has changed and I've sort of slowed my roll some but I'm always looking for opportunities to go and explore something new!

For safety reasons, please have at least 5 reviews or a well thought out introduction if you request to stay with us. I put a lot of effort into making sure my surfers are comfortable so please do the same for us when requesting a stay. Thank you and I can't wait to meet you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think CS is a fantastic tool for opening doors to other cultures and future friends - it's a constant encouragement to get out and explore and if you can't, the explorers can come to you.

Interests

Like most people, I have far too many interests and not nearly enough time or money to support them all! I'd love to become more experienced with portrait photography and learning more about cameras in general! I'm a cat person and adore all things soft and fluffy! I genuinely enjoy collections of short poems and my family often refers to me as a 'magpie' since I collect anything sparkly and shiney. I love coffee and will drink it at the start and the end of my day.

A more unique interest of mine would be my fascination with Chinese characters, better known as hanzi - however, the interest is purely aesthetic so instead of attempting to learn Chinese hanzi, I focused on Japanese kanji since I could see myself actually learning to speak the sounds of the language. I am not fluent by any means but I can safely order from a menu in the language!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I live near some of the most beautiful, and underrated, beaches in the world. I have yet to find a beach that I would say is prettier than the ones I get to enjoy at home. They just go on and on for miles.

I decided to drop all my plans for a week. I just traveled. I met people as I encountered them. I made a random roadtrip with a person I had only met 2 days prior. I learned to just go where my attention turned and to attempt to speak at some length to everyone I encountered. It was one of the best experiences of my life.

I live to take pictures of the memorable places and people I've encountered. Instagram: Kstobias0385

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - When and why you should book direct when traveling versus when it's okay to book 3rd party 😅

Learn - I love languages. I would love to learn simple greetings and phrases from the people I meet.

Share - The amusing story of how my cat, Squirt, got her name

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a pretty good cook and love introducing southern flavors to people unfamiliar with some of our regional favorites. I'm quiet and enjoy one on one conversations and learning about the people of an area.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, England, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Thailand, Vatican City State
