ABOUT ME

I'm a Taiwanese/Chinese-American, who was born and raised in the USA, but came to China to attend medical school after college in the US, spending 5 years there.

Now I'm traveling around the world for about a year for my final year internship, learning at different hospitals throughout the world (Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, China, Canada, South Africa)

I grew up in a small city in upstate New York, so Shanghai has been quite a change for me, but I've grown to enjoy it a lot. During my stay in China, I've had the opportunity to travel around and getting to meet people from all over China and seeing the different cultures within this massive Chinese culture.

PHILOSOPHY

I agree with many Buddhist philosophies, such as respecting all life (I am a 75% vegetarian), showing kindness to others, and living in the present moment. I haven't been able to achieve all these, but I strive to.

兴趣

I play violin, like to ride a bicycle for leisure around the city I live in (Shanghai); When I have time off I like to travel and read (preferably reading and traveling at the same time). I really enjoy seeing nature (mountains, fields, rivers, oceans, etc). It is kind of a recharge after being in the city for a long period of time.

I like listening to classical music, old and new Chinese music, as well as some American popular music. I like folk/indie music, and for some reason, Celtic and Canadian Folk. I also enjoy listening to NPR, BBC World, and news from around the world. I like movies that tell stories that are touching and remind viewers of the human spirit, but movies of other types as well. Some movie titles I have enjoyed throughout the years are Stand By Me, Farewell My Concubine, Little Miss Sunshine, To Live, Love of Siam, Together, Hear Me, My Neighbor Totoro, Castle in the Sky, Inception, and Pan's Labyrinth.

Taking a trip with just my mom to the Caribbean on a whim and visiting small islands. That was beautiful! Even though our camera broke at the end of the trip, the photographs in our minds will always be there.
