About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live a life worth living; find a truth which is true for me. To attain true happiness by daring to be different. To trade comfort for adventure!

ABOUT ME

I'm a very easy-going, laid back kinda guy. My favorite thing to do is to put on a pair of ninja pants and a tank top and traverse the obstacles which hinder normal people. I feel most comfortable in a ninja-esque state of existence. I'm currently in the Army and so I'm not able to do any hosting, unfortunately.

PHILOSOPHY

I was raised as a christian by a single mother with an unshakeable faith; a woman who always sacrificed her needs for ours (my brothers and I); a model of unconditional love. Needless to say, my faith is still very important to me and relevant; although it is something I'm still attempting to understand, along with my place in this world. I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for the faith my mother instilled in me, and that is something I can never forget. I believe in second chances, forgiveness, and loving people to the best of my ability. Nobody is perfect and I pass judgment on no one, because I don't believe I have a right to do so. I believe in living by example and not shoving my faith down people's throats, because people need to make up their own minds and come to their own realizations. I've made plenty of mistakes along the way and I still struggle with certain aspects of my faith, and I'm not afraid to admit it. Success to me means financial stability, but not excess. If I could live with as little possessions as possible, while making a difference in the lives of others, I would consider that a success. I would measure success by the ability to live a life of quality, not quantity. I don't really believe in first impressions; I believe that a person can continually surprise you, the more you get to know them. I think that everyone has a story to tell and that we're all meant for greatness in different forms. We have amazing potential :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd like to do more CS events when I return...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I studied abroad in Sweden in 2008. I had met a girl from Norway on facebook randomly and we became pen pals before this trip. So I made a trip to Norway to meet her in person. I crashed on her cousin's couch and we just hung out in a small village near Oslo for a few days and enjoyed each other's company. Then I met two of her friends (they were a couple) who lived in Oslo. I left feeling like I hadn't seen enough of Oslo, so I went back and crashed on this couple's couch for three days and they showed me around the entire city. It was a blast!

Surfed officially for the first time through CS when I went out to Washington State to try out for their State Patrol. Chelsea took me in w/o a reference and she was very cool and accommodating! Jim Stobie, the man, myth, legend. He let me crash for 6 days at his place since I couldn't get another host in Seattle. He was a riot to hang out with and we made a homemade pizza that would've given the best place in town a run for their money :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once took a 5 day journey through southern Sweden and Copenhagen with a backpack and a very spontaneous attitude! Also saw a viking metal band (Amon Amarth) on a cruise ship in the middle of the Baltic Sea...epic to say the least :)

Took a 5,000 mile solo motorcycle journey across the eastern U.S. and Canada, mostly just to clear my head :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I like learning languages and am somewhat proficient in German, so vielleicht wir koennen Deutsch zusammen sprechen, ja?

I also really like to cook a good meal.

If you're into parkour, we could traverse the urban expanses together :D
