About Me

CURRENT MISSION

More than anything in the world I need to see Xavier Rudd play at Red Rocks with Yonder Mountain String Band in August! I live in Florida and the closest he is coming is Dallas, so I decided if I have to fly somewhere to see him, y not a place of beauty?

ABOUT ME

The most important thing I can say about myself is that I eat/breath/live/love music and dance. There is nothing in the world I enjoy more than seeing live music and moving my body and soul with the music! You may wonder about the occupation "hoopologist," so I will elaborate...I make and sell beautiful, colorful hula hoops (nothing like the ones we did when we were kids--these are grown up hoops!), and I teach hoopdance to anyone willing to try it. I can ONLY hoop with music, and try to do it every day. I am so grateful to the universe for allowing me to live the life I love, and I try to share my joy and passion with all the people I meet.

PHILOSOPHY

...I guess I can say this is all that I need--music and peace and the gift of the trees!
~Xavier Rudd

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am completely new to this whole couchsurfing thing and very excited about it! I haven't gotten to participate YET because I JUST started my new job at the best blues bar/cafe ever and am currently working 6 days a week to try and catch up, but once things settle down, I am truly looking forward to opening my home to fellow travelers and showing them the beautiful beaches minutes from my apartment!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While I have never "officially" couchsurfed through this site, my home has always been known for hospitality. I have hosted members of the band Green Lemon when they came down from Colorado on a few different occasions. Through them, I met another awesome band called Bump at 10,000 Lakes Festival in Minnesota, and the first time they came down from Detroit, I had the entire band use my house as a home base through their whole florida run of shows. Those were the days though...my apartment was HUGE. My new place is much smaller and I can only host one or maybe two people at a time. And since I live close to downtown St. Pete I do end up having couchsurfers a few times a month when someone doesn't want to drive across the big bridge to Tampa after a concert. It's always a blast!

Music, Movies, and Books

Oh my, this is the hard part. My list will be epic when it comes to the music and books part so I'll just do a top 10 for each...it should give you a good idea of what I'm into. I couldn't POSSIBLY begin to put hose top 10 in any particular order, so it's random

MUSIC: Xavier Rudd!!! (okay, that one's not random--he's my very favorite), Les Claypool, That1Guy, Grateful Dead, Phish, Spoonfed Tribe, Shpongle, Bluetech, Gogol Bordello, Balkan Beatbox

AUTHORS: Kurt Vonnegut, Tom Robbins, Ayn Rand, Ken Kesey, Douglas Adams, Chuck Palahniuk, Gabriel Garcia Marques, Milan Kundera, Hunter S. Thompson, Jane Austen

MOVIES: DJ Q-Bert's Wave Twisterz, A Clockwork Orange, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Pineapple Express, The Boondock Saints, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (the BeeGees/Peter Frampton version), Across The Universe, Xavier Rudd Live at the Enmore (not a movie but that DVD gets more play than any that I have ever owned), The Cook The Thief His Wife and Her Lover, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been blessed with the honor of performing hoopdance onstage with some of my favorite bands at festivals in front of thousands and I will cherish those five minutes with The String Cheese Incident and second set with Green Lemon forever, especially since both of those bands aren't performing together anymore.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to teach you hoopdance!
