关于我

I'm a simple Iranian guy who hates pretending and loves genuine people. Couchsurfing has been the most important part of my life since I joined back in 2010. I hosted around a people in my grandfather's house when I was living in Iran. Unfortunately, Some of my surfers did not care enough to even leave a reference after staying for a few days but that's alright. I have organized plenty of Couchsurfing mingles in Ardabil, Tehran and Dublin. The people that I have met through CS has also become the most important people in my life and my close social circle is almost 100% CS people. I have been in CS meeting all around the world in Tokyo, Copenhagen, Shanghai, Bremen, Hamburg, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Valencia, Madrid, ... and I have met the most amazing people and I have shared great and deep conversations with them. I guess it's because I don't really have any dogma in my way of thinking so it is almost impossible to offend me in any way so feel free to talk about any topic with me.
Lately, however, I have realised that as CS people are in general very like-minded and they have been my only social peers for a few years now, I feel that I am stuck in an echo-chamber where everyone around me thinks the same way I do and I find that dangerous as this might blind you to other views on important matters and also force you to be more extreme and becoming a dogmatic person. So, very recently I have started to diversify the people around me with groups outside CS and trust me it's too painful. I miss that immediate connection that I would feel with CS people. But I guess that is what it takes.

As you can see I'm a bit of a talkative person so prepare yourself for hours and hours of heated conversation if you plan to host or surf with me.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I initially joined CS for an opportunity to meet interesting travellers from abroad. I was pretty young when I joined CS so I guess I grew up with the CS culture in all these years. I have met my best friends, lovers and the most amazing people who you can connect with, in the first five minutes of the conversation. So the question to ask is why shouldn't I be on Couchsurfing.

However, It's not all utopian and beautiful. I have had some not pleasant experiences in the CS as well which did not really hurt me but it did kind of disappoint me. Here starts my whining. After hosting plenty of people and having a great track record and doing all of the new corporate verification stuff that CS has pulled off lately, I have been having a very hard time finding any host in most of the countries I have travelled to. I hate labelling people as racist etc. It is simply a bit heart-breaking to have had dedicated your whole social life to a community for years just to realize that this community does not really accept you and the whole thing might have been a one-way relationship. I have been hosted outside Iran only once while considering that I have sent hundreds of requests in 10-20 different cities all around the world. I have kind of given up in sending couch requests but I might try sometimes. I don't give up on people that easily.
*Sorry for the part above people. I think it is important to share these issues in any community otherwise they will destroy it from inside. I do understand that the whole point of CS and sharing culture is that you should know from the beginning that if you host someone, it does not necessarily mean that you will be hosted once in return. But talking to my fellow couchsurfers from Iran, I realized almost all of them share the same experience and are as disappointed as I am.
All of that said, I'm not planning to leave CS anytime soon :)

兴趣

I have never had anything that I have been into really strongly. I've never been part of a club, or a cult etc. I always prefer to be open to new experiences rather than dedicating myself to a certain hobby.
I occasionally enjoy these: Volunteering, people, reading, travellings, Finding friends around the world.
