About Me
23 in between degrees looking to see as much as I can on a budget. Love meeting new people and hearing their stories and adventures!
I finished a BSc in Biology and am accepted to start my BEd after degree to hopefully inspire the joy of Biology in others :)
No matter how many times I try to change it, my profile says Clairmont when I actually live in Donnelly. My location settings are a little buggered I guess as I actually live a couple hours from there.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Meet new people and share the love they have for their city. As well as understanding the struggle of being a backpacker trying to save as much as possible.
Interests
Interested in traveling (that's why we're all here right?), music, books, science (pretty big bio nerd and will light up at the mention of genetics), baseball, hiking, food (mainly the consumption more than the preparation- but I am a good cook!), finding a good deal, sightseeing, people watching, good humor and a good laugh, and cats. All in no particular order except science being pretty high up there.
Music, Movies, and Books
Always looking for new recommendations and open to any and all suggestions! However, I have a soft spot for anything Tom Hanks has done, especially Forrest Gump. Can't forget a good rom-com or a movie that gets you thinking too!
Music- I like a whole array of things! I've been pointed out that my typical genre is white guys with guitars (just how it happened haha) like Ed Sheeran, Vance Joy and John Mayer. To name a few- Halsey, The Arkells, Death Cab for Cutie, Kings of Leon, Queen, The Lumineers, whatever is popular at the time, I'm probably guilty of being into it too! Will listen to any genre and love some good song along nostalgic music. I love live music and will go out of my way to go to a concert if a good artist is in town. Or you know concerts in general are a blast.
Books- can't seem to get away from non-fiction lighthearted biographies but I do like some fiction here and there. Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo, Born a Crime, Book of Joan and A Man Called Ove are some of my favorites from the past year. I am open to any suggestions for your favorite read/book as I'm looking to read as much as I can during my travels.
I tend to use audiobooks as my main form of reading. If you haven't tried them out yet, then I highly suggest you do! They're great for when you're on the go and don't particularly have the time to flip pages. Bonus when it's read to you by the author.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swam with dolphins in Kaikoura, NZ, been to Fenway Park, hiked the Rocky Mountains and traveled the Great Ocean Road.
Teach, Learn, Share
Willing to help in anyway that I can, share stories pointers and advice.
Won't mind cooking for you and yours, as long as I am aware of dietary restrictions in advance :)
Love a good solid chat from anything about life in general to theories you may have and anything in between. Love learning about different point of views and opinions one may have on a certain topic.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am very easy going, quiet, clean, and tidy. I will likely bombard you with questions about recommendations for suggestions for my travels :)
If I am staying with you, then I likely don't know anyone in your city so there is minimal chance that I will be coming in late and being super loud. I would make sure to be in contact with you. Your house your rules.
I will also be as much help as I can be with suggestions for any of your future travels. I am an open book.
Also open minded and appreciate a great sense of humor. I tend to get comfortable decently quick with new people as I don't take myself too seriously most of the time. Life is short.
I also love animals and will likely be thrilled that you have a pet in general. Bonus points if the animal and I actually get along.
