I’ve backpacked around the world. I’m working to get to 100 countries and I’m in the mid-90s. I backpacked for a year after college, then took two different “leave of absences” from the working world to travel. Today I’m married and I have two kids, but I still make time to travel - both with my family, and on my own. It’s my passion. And because I’m self-employed with the small communications consultancy, I have the flexibility to still take some solo trips!

I have traveled so much that now it’s less about seeing places and more about having experiences and connecting with people. And as I often travel alone, I love how Couchsurfing gives me a true “Homebase” even if temporarily, and makes it so easy to meet and connect with people.

Travel (of course), writing (I work in communications), story telling & comedy, hiking, beading/jewelry making, gratitude listing (my newest hobby)

Whatever is downloadable or stream-able from Netflix or Amazon Prime. For music, I love Spotify and checking out random people’s public playlists! And, finding a song I like then tracking down acoustic versions, covers, etc. so I can hear it sung and performed in lots of different ways.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I took my kids on a volunteer trip to Zambia, Africa where we built mud hut houses for AIDS orphans. We stayed in a small village and got to know village life. It was an amazing experience.

I also did an overnight hike to a mountain across from a volcano outside Antigua, Guatemala - and once it was dark, we got to watch the eruptions and red lava flowing down.
