About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To feel the joy, novelty, challenge and growth that comes from travel

ABOUT ME

Does anyone else find it tough to try and describe oneself succinctly within a paragraph or two? Should I list perfunctory bullet-points of information or craft full sentences? Or would a haiku suffice as a nice balance between concision and poetic license? Or should I try my hand at serving up a stream-of-consciousness ramen bowl with a broth of assorted musings and random thoughts peppering the autobiographical noodles?
Suffice it to say
I like to travel and meet
Quality people.

PHILOSOPHY

Try and learn one new thing a day, stop and pet a dog even if you're late for your own wedding, remember the kindness of others even when kindness is in short supply.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just started on CS but I hope to partake of the collective wisdom fostered here during my travels to a nearby town or an exotic locale where a sombrero, fez, fedora or Viking helmet may come in handy.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only had pleasant experiences on CS thus far. Knock on digital wood. One person with whom I stayed and another person whom I met through CS have become terrific friends of mine. I think there is a bit of a risk entailed in accepting CS requests but then again, what in life that's worth doing doesn't carry with it some degree of risk?

Music, Movies, and Books

favorite auteurs: Fellini, Godard, Bunuel, Eisenstein, Truffaut, Hitchcock, Wenders, Fincher, Jarmusch, Tarkovsky, Kurosawa

favorite authors: Tom Robbins, Kurt Vonnegut, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Henry Miller, David Mitchell

my musical tastes are pretty varied but in the jukebox of my heart there is always a Led Zep song playing

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For a TV story, I once accompanied a koala keeper at the SF Zoo as she prepared a liquid eucalyptus meal that is made for geriatric koalas who can't chew rough eucalyptus leaves anymore. It was simultaneously endearing and a bit sad to see the toothless koala slurping up this tasty treat.
