I'm from Miami, Florida but I'm an international educator working and residing in Abu Dhabi. I have been an educator for 9 years. Six of those years I taugh at-risk youth in the poorly resources areas of Miami. The last three years up until this point is teaching in the emirate of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. I travel when time affords me the opportunity. Whether it's a quick jaunt to a nearby country for the weekend or a multiple-destination journey over an extended break, I live to travel. I especially enjoy meeting and exchanging stories with people, engaging cultures and taking paths less.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've travelled to my fair share of countries and have encountered so many wonderful people that have helped me gain such a unique and appreciative perspective of life. Couchsurfing provides me with a deeper connection and engagement with people, their culture and their experiences that will forever help thread the fabric of my existence. Travel is something I love and meeting people is a great benefit of this. It is my believe that more meaningful connections can be achieved outside of the traditional tourist cycle.

Interests

I enjoy traveling, exploring nature via outdoor activities, music and the arts and learning languages (although I have yet to be fluent in any😏).

Music, Movies, and Books

Books-I enjoy reading mostly non-fiction books with a keen interest in Philosophy. Consolations of Philosophy is a favorite of mine. The current fiction book I have starting to read is A Game of Thrones.

Music- I enjoy all genres of music as long as I can decipher the lyrics. I especially enjoying going to live music performances.

Movies- I'm an avid film enthusiast. During summer movie releases it is possible that I'll see several movies in succession until I've seen them all. My favorite movie remains "Gladiator."

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English (being a teacher and all), how to talk like a Jamaican😄 and how to not dance off-beat in a club. I would hope to garner some knowledge of the tenor and pulse of the locale I'm visiting. Gain/learn first-hand knowledge of the customs and culture while picking up a few conversation phrases in a foreign language. Share stories, tips and ideas about traveling.
